FLUGTAG DIGITAL ACTIVATION

Wings in more ways than one

As Red Bull’s digital agency for over a decade we’re always excited about every Flugtag and Soapbox event – so this brief was no exception. The creativity of entrants and engineering talent is something we, as designers, always admire.

Working in collaboration with Kastner and Partners, Red Bull’s original illustration agency, we created an online game – challenging eager competitors to apply to enter the Red Bull Flugtag. Each player needed to reach 79 metres or more in their chosen flying machine to access their country’s application form.

This was a comprehensive project from storyboarding the game through to animation (HTML5 game development), project management of the microsite and Point of Sale games machines in retail environments. Localised in 25 countries we worked with Red Bull’s central marketing team in Austria and local agencies and suppliers to manage the rollout in each specific country including Italy, Germany, South Africa and the US. Attracting over 1 million applications the campaign was a huge success globally.
